Open-source software
Last updated: October 11, 2026.
Codon includes open-source software. Each component is licensed under its own licence, and nothing in our Terms of Service limits the rights those licences give you (Terms, section 14).
git, in the Mac app
The Codon Mac app includes git (version 2.56.0), which is licensed under the
GNU General Public License, version 2 (GPL-2.0). The app carries, inside its
bundle at Codon.app/Contents/Resources/licenses/:
- git's licence (
git-COPYING.txt); - the complete source code of the git it contains, as the exact release tarball it was built
from (
git-2.56.0.tar.xz, from kernel.org); - a note on what it is and how it was built (
git-SOURCE.txt).
To see them, right-click Codon.app in Finder, choose Show Package Contents, and open
Contents/Resources/licenses. You may copy, modify and redistribute git under the
terms of the GPL-2.0.
If you have trouble getting the source, or want it on another medium, write to hello@codonhq.com.
The web client
The web client includes, among others, React and React DOM (MIT licence) and opus-decoder (MIT licence), which is built on libopus (BSD licence). Each is used under its licence; the licence texts are available from their projects and on request.
